Main Control

Get List - Gathers the selected Lists from the List tab and displays the symbols in the Results tab.
Rank List - Ranks the displayed symbols by the selected Ranks.
Rank Export - When checked, every stock Ranked in the Results tab, along with it's Rank value, is exported to a text file in the TickeRank folder called date_rankexport.csv, with "date" being the date in the Date Picker in the Portfolio tab (today's date unless you change it). If the file already exists the data is appended to the file.
Format of the file is as follows...
Date, Symbol, Rank Value, Rank Abbreviation
8/1/2003,AA,27.77,YH15
8/1/2003,AXP,44.17,YH15
8/1/2003,BA,33.12,YH15
Save List - Saves to disk the displayed symbols in the Results tab. In the Save As window you can select to save just the symbols or the symbols and Rank values.
Load List - Loads from disk a list of symbols. A loaded list can then be ranked as usual. To create your own lists to load into TickeRank, make a text file with one symbol per line and save it with a .tic extension.
Help - Takes you to the TickeRank website.
Group - Opens your default web browser to the Yahoo TickeRank discussion group.
Clear All - Clears all the currently selected List/Rank/Industry check boxes.
List Compare - This compares the displayed tickers to all selected Lists and then outputs to the log all the matching symbols and list names. In the Results tab, it also puts the count of how many times each symbol matched.
Cancel - While TickeRank is gathering data off the web, clicking this button will stop web access after the current activity is finished.
List Tabs

List Tabs - This is where you select the List(s) you want TickeRank to gather off the web. You would then click the Get List button to gather those symbols. Left-clicking a List name will take you to that website. The letters beside the List names describe when they're updated, when available... r = real time, i = intra-day, e = end of day, w = weekly, m = monthly, q = quarterly, y = yearly.
Rank Tabs

Rank Tabs - This is where you select the Rank(s) you want TickeRank to gather off the web, then it assigns a Rank value to the displayed symbols in the Results tab. Left-clicking a Rank name will take you to that website. The letters beside the Rank names describe when they're updated, when available... r = real time, i = intra-day, e = end of day, w = weekly, m = monthly, q = quarterly, y = yearly.
Underline - Ranks that are underlined share the same Rank range of -100 to +100, returning accurate results when running multiple Ranks at the same time.
Results Tab

Ticker Column - When Lists are gathered, this is where the symbols are displayed.
Rank Column - When Ranks values are gathered, this is where the values are displayed, beside the appropriate symbol. Under that column is displayed the Rank Average of all those values. The Rank Average is also written to the log after each rank is run. When multiple Ranks are selected, the value is the average of all Ranks selected.
% Column - If "List Performance Info" is turned on in the Options tab, this column shows each stock's percentage performance from the previous close price. The box beneath this column show a "+" if the top half of the list performed better than the bottom half and a "-" if the bottom half outperforms the top half. The + and - ratings are useful for scans that are run intra-day, which can help determine which scans are more predictive than others. The "+" and "-" rating will tell you how well the scan predicted performance across the entire list.
Volume Column - If "List Performance Info" is turned on in the Options tab, this column shows each stock's volume of shares traded from the current trading day, in thousands.
A column will be sorted if you left-click any column header.
Analysis - Left-click a symbol to open your default web browser to a website for further evaluation of that stock. The Analysis Website is selected in the Options tab.
Delete Tickers - Right-click a symbol to delete it, or to Delete by Rank Value, enter the value in the text box, select the less than or greater than symbol and click the Delete button.
Ticker Entry - To add tickers manually, enter them in this text box separated with a space or comma, then left-click the "Add Tickers" button.
Yahoo - To see all the displayed tickers at Yahoo Finance in your browser, Left-click the Yahoo button.
Options Tab

Filter Section - The filter is run after symbols are gathered after clicking the "Get List" button in the Results tab. Symbols are kept or deleted, based on the setting below.
Filter Defaults, Do Not Filter - When checked, the filters are NOT run and no symbols are deleted.
Filter Defaults, Price - Stocks with 20-minute delayed prices outside the entered range will be deleted.
Filter Defaults, Volume - Stocks with 10-day average volume less than the entered number will be deleted.
Filter Defaults, Include Exchanges - Exchanges selected will not be deleted from any Lists.
Turn off web images - When checked, TickeRank's retrieval of data off the web speeds up a bit because images are not loaded as web pages are loaded into TickeRank. This will also turn off images in your web browser, until you either uncheck it or close TickeRank.
Auto-fill Portfolio Name - When checked, the List/Rank abbreviations will be entered in the "Portfolio Name:" text box in the Results tab.
List Performance Info - When checked, the %, Volume and Chart Columns in the Results tab are filled in after symbols are gathered after clicking the "Get List" button in the Results tab.
Log Filter Settings - When checked, the filter settings are written to the log.
Hits - Allows you to only see stocks that are on more than one List, which can be a very powerful confirmation tool. The default setting of 1 causes no change, in that any duplicate ticker symbols are deleted before display. A setting of between 2 and 4 will only show tickers that are on at least that many lists. For example, with the Hits setting at 2, you could select the lists "Low P/E" and "52-Week Highs" to get the tickers from both. Other examples include: Find tickers on more then one BarChart list, find tickers in both the CS 5 and 30-Day Trend lists, or find stocks that show both a downtrend in the ADX Downtrend list and have a Bullish Candlestick pattern with one of the Candlestick lists. This also works on loaded files. For example, if you have two saved .tic files and want to see what symbols are common between them, set the Hits text box in the Options tab to 2 and select and load the files. Only the tickers in both files will be displayed in the Results tab.
Analysis Website - When you left-click a sybol in the Results tab, your default web browser will open to one of these websites with further analysis for that stock.
Export - This feature will go through Lists and output today's date, list name abbreviation and ticker to a CSV file in the TickeRank folder called "export.txt". If the file exists it will append to it. To output all Lists or just those you select, choose the appropriate "All" or "Selected" option button. This is useful for those that want to analyze the picks with other programs, like Excel or Access. Be aware this feature takes a long time... over 10 minutes with a 768k DSL connection.
Save all List/Rank settings - When checked, all checked boxes in the List and/or Rank tabs are saved when you exit the program, and restored when you start it again.
Log Tab

Log Tab - This is where the various TickeRank activities are logged.
Clear Log - Clears the log and enters the current Date/Time.
Save Tab - Saves the log to disk as a text file named savelog.txt.
Industry Tab

BigCharts Industries - Working from left to right, first select either Best or Worst using the two option buttons. Then select the time frame you want from the 11 different time frames available in the dropdown box... they range from 1 week to 5 years. Next you click the checkbox, which will grab the top or bottom performing industry names from BigCharts in the time frame you selected and will put those names in the last listbox. Now that you have a list of industries, you can select one or more of those industries and a different time frame and best or worst again if you wish. Then when you click the "Get Lists" button, the program will grab the appropriate tickers and display them as usual. For example, say you want to get the best performing industries over the last month and see the best performing stocks in those industries over the past week. You would select the Best option button, then select 1 Month from the next dropdown box, then click the checkbox. After the industry names appear, pick the top three. You're now ready to select which stocks from those industries you want, so select Best or Worst again and the time frame you want. In this example we would pick Best and 1 Week. Now click the "Get Lists" button and you'll have the 30 best performing stocks from this week from the best performing industries from the past month.
Portfolio Tab

Portfolio - When you click the "Create" button, all the symbols from the Results tab will be written to a file on your hard disk and there's a "Name" textbox there to write any description you want. The "Auto-Portfolio Name" feature is still active in case you want the List/Rank abbreviations as part of the Portfolio name.
After clicking the Refresh button or after you Create a new portfolio, the grid will show you info about all the portfolio files you had saved in the past... one portfolio per line. To delete a portfolio entry, right-click on the ID # of the portfolio you want deleted.
There's a text field showing the current date, which is saved with the Portfolio to calculate the number of days that have passed. If you create a portfolio over the weekend, for example, you would want this date to be the Friday before.
ID = this is just a sequential number that matches the filename.
Date = date created
TD% = percentage performance to date (see below for how this is calculated)
Name = This is the Portfolio Name given to the portfolio when it was created.
# (number) = how many symbols are in that portfolio.
Days = how many days have passed since created.
The current price of each symbol is saved with the portfolio, so percent performance is calculated by getting the current price and comparing to that value. Then all the percentages are added together and divided by how many symbols there are... averaging them in other words. It essentially represents the performance if you had invested capital equally between all the symbols in the portfolio. If you click on any column header all the portfolios listed will sort by that column.
Market Tab

Market Lists and Performance - clicking the "Start" button will show the 1-day, 5-day, 10-day, 20-day, 50-day and 60-day performance of the 12 main sectors. Each sector is then ranked for each time frame, and a final score column on the end labeled "T" is the total Rank across all three time frames, weighted to give recent performance a higher score. Checking one or more box and clicking the "Get List" button will grab all the symbols from the selected Sector(s).
Alerts Tab

Alerts - This pulls real-time Alerts from Trade-Ideas.com. There's 116 to choose from. As usual with any TickeRank Lists, pick one or more of them and click the "Get Lists" button to retrieve them. Click the "?" help button to learn more about each Alert.
