TickeRank Update History :
v5.12(2/12/05)...
- Fixed three of the Yahoo Stock vs Industry Ranks... Ind PE, Ind PEG Ratio and Ind Long Debt/Equity. Yahoo was reporting high values as leaders and low values as laggards. For these Ranks the opposite is true, so it's been corrected in TickeRank.
- ValuEngine no longer offers a daily updated list of their Top Rated 5 Star stocks, so that List has been changed to their monthly listing of the 100 highest 4 and 5 star rated stocks.
v5.11(2/6/05)...
- Added the "Hits" feature to loaded files. For example, if you have two saved .tic files and want to see what symbols are common between them, set the Hits text box in the Options tab to 2 and select and load the files. Only the tickers in both files will be displayed in the Results tab.
v5.10(1/23/05)...
- Enhanced the "Market" tab. Now you can see how individual sectors performed over 6 different time frames, in days... 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 60. Each time frame has its own rank, from 1 to 12, and the "T"otal column on the right averages them and gives more weight to recent (1, 5 and 10 day) performance.
- Added three new Ranks from SmartMoney.com... "Barra Risk" for Stock, Industry and Sector. The website is slow, but it could still be a useful tool for smaller Lists. A Rank of 100 is the least Risky, while -100 is the most.
v5.09(1/9/05)...
- Added a new "Alerts" tab that pulls lists from Trade-Ideas.com. There's 116 different intra-day Alerts to choose from. As usual with any TickeRank Lists, pick one or more of them and click the "Get Lists" button to retrieve them. Click the "?" help button to learn more about each Alert.
v5.08(1/8/05)...

v5.05(12/18/04)...
- Fixed the MarketGuide Price/Industry Growth Rank, the website changed.
- These websites no longer offer free access, so associated Lists, Ranks and features have been removed from TickeRank... WallStreetCity, BigEasyInvestor, StockScores and Validea.
v5.04(7/20/04)...
- BarChart changed one of their web pages, so the EPS, Revenue and Income Growth Ranks have been updated.
v5.03(7/19/04)...
- ClearStation changed the order of their Sectors, so the Market tab was grabbing the wrong symbols for Energy... now fixed.
v5.02(7/4/04)...
- Before when you created a portfolio in the Portfolio tab, they would refresh after the portfolio was created. Not they refresh only when clicking the Refresh button.
- In the Market tab, if you would click start more than once, it would not update with the latest data. Now it'll refresh with each click.
- Changed the way the Rank ThomsonFN Monthly Performance works. The 12 Ranks score a stock by measuring how a stock performs for the selected month over the last 10+ years.... a useful tool to uncover stocks that show strong seasonal trends. Since newer stocks have little data to show a trend, stocks trading less than 10 years are not given any Rank Value. Stocks 10 years old and above are Ranked by how many times the price increased during the selected month. For example, if a stock has increased in price for that month in 6 of the last twelve years, the Rank Value would be 50, or 50%. Likewise, if a stock has gone up in price during that month only once in 10 years, the value would be 10, or 10%. It's not uncommon to find stocks above 80 and below 20, possible candidates for going long and short, respectively.
v5.01(6/30/04)...
- The percentages reported in the Market tab are now updated intra-day, so you can click the Start button and get a 15 minute delayed sector performance.
- added a new List called InteractiveBrokers Shortable Stocks... this returns the 5,000+ stocks that are shortable at InterctiveBrokers.com.
- updated or deleted various Ranks/Lists due to website changes.
v5.00(6/21/04)...
- The 5 day performance have been replaced with these 3 columns, which can be turned on using the "List Performance Info" checkbox in the Options tab... % - this shows the percent performance of the current day, Vol - current volume, Graph - a small graph of the current day.
- All Quicken Ranks have been deleted, since Quicken.com is no longer available.
- Filtering stopped working because Yahoo changed their quote pages, this is now fixed.
v4.07(5/31/04)...
Because Quicken.com has shut down the free sections of their website, these features have been affected:
- Filtering... now uses Yahoo to filter instead of Quicken.
- Portfolio Create and Refresh... now uses Yahoo to get prices for stocks in your portfolios.
- 5 Day Performance columns... currently does not work. A new source for the data is being searched for.
- The Quicken Ranks will no longer work, so they'll be deleted from TickeRank in the next update.
v4.06(4/27/04)...
- Added three new Yahoo Ranks.. Resistance, Pivot and Support. Pivot points are used by floor traders to help identify trading levels during the day. They're based on the previous day's High, Low and Close prices. Prices will commonly swing between two layers of upper Resistance and lower Support levels. The Resistance and Support levels used here in TickeRank are the 2nd level, farthest away from the pivot point. It's said when these levels are broken through, outside traders are coming in and a short-term trend is in the making. The number that TR reports is the percentage plus or minus the current price (15 min delayed) is from the Rank in question. For example, if the Support Rank reports +3, it means the current price is 3% above the Support level. If it's -3 then it's below. Along with showing levels of individual stocks, these can be used to accurately gauge intra-day market direction. For example, run the Rank on the DOW 30 stocks, and look at the average Rank reported under the Rank Value column in the Results tab. If the average is closely approaching (negative value) or has crossed (positive value) Resistance, you know the market is moving. - Added a Marketocracy Rank... Buys/Sells % - This reports if the best traders at Marketocracy are buying or selling the stock as a percentage of Buys vs. Sells. For example, if it reports +40, it means there's been 40% more buys than sells over the last 30 days.
- Fixed the Validea Guru Analysis Rank... the website changed their pages.
v4.05(4/4/04)...
- Before/After Hours Percentage Ranks... Two Ranks from Nasdaq.com that report in percentage the before and after hours performance (Replaces the MarketWatch After Hours Rank).
- Trade-Ideas Alerts Rank... This Rank reads the last 5 real-time alerts and determines if they're positive or negative. A score of +100 would be given to a stock with 5 positve alerts and -100 to those with 5 negative, with appropriate scoring in between.
- Fixed the Delete by Rank Value feature in the Results tab... now when you use it, all symbols with a blank Rank value are also deleted.
v4.04(3/1/04)...
- MarketWatch After Hours % Rank... Reports in percentage the after hours performance. Only returns values after market close.

v4.03(2/24/04)...
- Added a new tab called "Market"... clicking the "Start" button will get the 1-day, 5-day and 1-qtr performance of the 12 main sectors. Each sector is then scored for each time frame, and a final score column on the end labeled "T" is the total Rank across all three time frames, weighted to give recent performance a higher score.
- Changed the B/H/S feature to 12 new Ranks from BarChart.com. -100 is Sell, 0 is Hold and +100 is Buy.
- To help speed up TickeRank access to the internet, added a "Turn off web images" checkbox in the "Options" tab. When selected, Ranking speed is increased. If surfing the web while this option is turned on, images are not seen in your internet browser until you uncheck the option and restart your browser.
